Composition

> Gondang Turing

Gondang Turing in its core is a 3-Part audio composition blending digitalised traditional instrument of Gondang Batak and algorithmic generative music. The project was displayed in a multi-media format through a sculpture and audio installation.

The project explores the role of virtual traditional instruments in the context of traditional Indonesian custom, Batak in particular. Through the scope of experimental electronic music, this project then explores the possibilities within these virtual traditional instruments.

Gondang Turing is published and distributed via Bandcamp and a Zine containing details, instruction and research behind the project.

A sound interpretation of the “Vile Planet” from Junji Ito’s cosmic horror manga Hellstar Remina.
